What is a 3D Printer? | Inside 3D Printing

Are you wondering what a 3D printer is? As interest and participation in the 3D printing industry continues grow, you’re definitely not the only with that question.

People from all walks of life and in dozens of industries are interested in getting their hands on a one of these machines, which some say that when combined with open source software and hardware is freeing people to make things and understand technology like never before!

So what is a 3D printer and how does it work? Put simply, it’s a small, manufacturing machine that makes physical, 3D objects from digital designs. But as industry tradeshows and special events around the globe have demonstrated, such a definition doesn’t do this promising invention justice.

3D printers can be used to make everything from machinery and intricate candy cake toppers to lab equipment. As a 3D printer company, at Aleph Objects our customers are showing every day that there are few things our robust open source 3D printers can't do.

We recently attended the Inside 3D Printing tradeshow in New York City, where attendees had the opportunity to learn first-hand what a 3D printer is and what it does. And the buzz at this year's show was definitely energizing! We enjoyed speaking with a wide range of people interested in 3D printing. We even got a chance to speak with some of our current TAZ 3D printer users and partners who stopped by our booth to say hi.

One of the partners we caught up with is My 3D Concepts, which is based in Aspen, Colorado. If you're in Aspen and looking to see Colorado 3D printers in action, or have a 3D printed object made for you, check them out!

If you didn't make Inside 3D Printing, we would hate for you to feel left out... Fortunately we spoke with a journalist for Reason TV who covered the entire event, so you can check out Reason TV's 3D printing coverage below to learn what you missed, and see a TAZ in action!

Reason TV wasn't the only one there either. Fox Business Network also covered Inside 3D Printing and you can read Fox Business' coverage of 3D printing here.
