LulzBot is a brand of Aleph Objects, Inc., an open source hardware company. By manufacturing our open source desktop 3D printers, we are part of both a community and a movement.
We believe our users should be free to customize and improve the hardware and software they use, and that includes our TAZ 3D desktop printer. We also understand that our users are just as committed to advancing accessible technology as we are. With this being the case, we like to stay well-informed about all the happenings in the community.
One such thing on a radar this year: The Hackaday Prize.
Because the Open Source movement is all about collaboration, we can't help but talk about Hackaday’s contest this year. The Hackaday Prize contest rewards Open Source innovation while encouraging the free exchange of ideas and knowledge with specific requirements around open documentation (including parts, schematics, images, and videos).
Hackaday is in fact so committed to the movement that the first prize winner in the contest will win a trip to space valued at almost $200,000! This contest is geared toward many of the customers we serve—including the hackers, designers, and engineers of the world.
And if going to space isn't enough motivation, know that you are participating in the contest where the Limor Fried, also known as Lady Ada, will be one of the judges. (If you didn't already know, we proudly partner with Adafruit Industries to offer our LulzBot TAZ 3D printer.)
Are any of our LulzBot 3D desktop printer users participating in Hackaday’s contests? If so, let us know what you are working on for your submission. If not, we think you should be!
