Loveland, CO - Aleph Objects, Inc., makers of LulzBot 3D Printers, announces the release of the LulzBot Mini 2 3D Printer, available June 20th from LulzBot.com and official LulzBot resellers. The Mini 2 builds on the original LulzBot Mini’s reputation for high performance 3D printing and easy operation in a rugged and portable package, but adds new features like tetherless operation, updated electronics, and a re-engineered Z-axis drive system for even better print quality. Of course, the LulzBot Mini 2 also maintains Aleph Objects’ commitment to Free, Libre, and Open Source development. The new hardware is complimented by the release of Cura LulzBot Edition version 3.2 software which adds new slicing options, interface updates, and big performance improvements over the previous version.
“We are continuously challenging the balance between innovative new features and platform stability to help users get the job done,' Aleph Objects' President Harris Kenny said. 'We have achieved this balance again with the LulzBot Mini 2 and Cura LulzBot Edition 3, and we know that users are going to love using these new products.”
Arguably the most exciting update on the LulzBot Mini 2 is the innovative belt-driven Z-axis. The LulzBot engineering team developed a belt drive that delivers impeccable layer stacking. A “brake” was also implemented via a simple custom circuit board which prevents the Z-axis from falling when disconnected from power. Combined with improved extrusion accuracy from the genuine E3D Titan Aero extruder and hot end, the design produces precise layer stacking, evident on both straight vertical walls and organic shapes.
“Some of the very best 3D prints I’ve ever seen are coming off the LulzBot Mini 2,” said Aleph Objects Director of Marketing Ben Malouf. “This printer, combined with Cura LulzBot Edition v3.2, is really changing my expectations for how things should look straight off of the machine.”
Cura LulzBot Edition v3.2 features much faster load times, an improved interface, more advanced slicing options, and numerous bug fixes. The Free and Open Source Software also includes the latest Marlin firmware as well as hundreds of verified print profiles for LulzBot 3D Printers and accessory tool heads.
